The Cornerstone Restaurant Interior Design in Beijing

This is the Cornerstone Restaurant. It's a lovely and very inviting place with a stylish and cozy interior design. The restaurant is located in Beijing, China, on the south-west corner of an office tower. It was designed by Studio Ramoprimo and it was just completed in 2011. The restaurant covers an area of 360 square meters and it includes strong walls and a simple but durable construction.

The architects designed this restaurant as a well organized space with a functional internal structure. It includes a large kitchen, a bar counter, a dining area, a pizza area, a lounge corner and a wine cellar. The team that designed the restaurant decided to use a mix of both natural and artificial materials. They used brushed steel plates, wood, bricks, reflecting glass, black iron profiles and mirrors. The result was a modern and chic restaurant with an organic touch.

The contrasting design features a combination of rough and smooth surfaces. The atmosphere inside is warm, comfortable and inviting. It offers the perfect environment for dining. The lounge and the bar areas have natural wood floors. There are two main dining areas and they are both placed on elevated platforms. They have large dark wooden boards and pillar cladding. Two central walls also serve as colorful decorations. They are covered with a collage of different patterns of bricks colored in yellow, red and grey. Overall, this is a very inviting restaurant both stylish and warm.

Wooden floors are a very beautiful detail in a home. They add a sense of cozyness and warmth regardless of the texture and color. They are also an elegant touch. The winter has been cruel this year but the worst is over. It’s time to visit the shops for some spring furniture. You might want to start with this beautiful and also very comfortable bench. This is a beautiful 81 square meter apartment located near Odemplan in Stockholm. It's currently on the market for 4.7 million SEK and it features 3 bright rooms and a kitchen. Located on the Balonne River in St. George, Queensland, Australia, this five-bedroom house by Fulton Trotter Architects is a modern masterpiece that truly feels like a home. The clients have a long standing connection to Fulton Trotter and out of desire to create something different in the local context, the Balonne River House was conceived.

The house is sited high on the rural block, ensuring the design captures the perfect northern orientation, cool summer breezes, fantastic panoramic views, while also avoiding flood levels. The house focuses on notions of passive design, simplicity and self-sustainability.

The three wings of this lovely house each perform a separate function. The master wing, closest to the river, contains the main bedroom, en suite, robe and a study come nursery. Then there’s the living wing, which has the kitchen, a formal space and a family space. The final wing houses the bedrooms and baths including an en suite guest room. Moreover, a fantastic covered deck provides gorgeous views.

As said before, the house is self-sufficient, harvesting all of its own water and processing of waste. All in all, The Balonne River House is an awesome place to call home. It is modern, it has panoramic views and, best of all, it’s eco-friendly. What more could you want?

There are a lot of beautiful homes and interiors out there and we can't possibly find them all. We are constantly searching for interesting places and when we find something we share it with you. Today we came across this beautiful cottage. It's a lovely home located on the dunes of Dewees Island. The cottage is very cute and stylish. It was designed by RS Custom Homes from Isle of Palms, SC.Notice how inviting and cozy this place is.

The interior is especially warm and welcoming. They key for that lies mostly in the materials that have been sued to build this unique home. For example, there aren't any plasterboards or sheetrock involved in this design. The interior was entirely crafted from shiplap walls and groove ceilings. The interior design is also very important, especially the color.Notice how beautiful and relaxing this cottage looks from the inside. It's not overly dark, nor bright, it's just perfect.

As for the colors, there's a very interesting and beautiful combination. It seems like a neutral interior, sometimes plain. However, there are cheerful, bright and colorful elements placed in key areas. They brighten up the rooms and they create the perfect contrast both in terms of color and style. It's a wonderful retreat, a place for relaxation and contemplation, a place you can be calm and forget about everyone and everything. It's a very cozy cottage, a wonderful location for holidays and weekends.

Inside Ben de Biel Club Owner and Photographer Apartment

Ben de Biel is a long-time manager for the Maria club and Eimer and is a well-known figure in Berlin's nightlife. He also has a passion for photography and has been immortalizing his life in the city from the very beginning. He lives in a top-floor apartment located in a building in Mitte. The views from the apartment are splendid.

Ben's apartment is spacious and has a lot of interesting features that deserve to be closely analyzed. The kitchen is large and it has been designed as the focal point of the apartment. It's where you can eat, drink, play, relax and read comic books. It even has a large and inviting sofa and several bookshelves filled with comics. The walls of the kitchen are covered with photos taken by Ben while traveling or during the nights spent at Maria, his second home.

Pictures are an element that repeats itself throughout the apartment. Each room has its share of photos. The atmosphere inside is very relaxing and calm, despite the telephone that never stops ringing. The apartment is like a retreat, a place for relaxation, where Ben is able to come for peace and quiet after a long and fun night in the club. He likes to spend most of his free time here rather than going some place else.

Ben has been living in Berlin since 1990.He had traveled there before and took pictures and he knew it was a great place to live so the decision was easy. Ben likes to balance photography with his job as a manager. These are two very important activities for him and he likes to think he's great at both of them. In fact, he used to be photographer until 1995. Then he started to take less pictures and since he didn't have his lab he was unable to continue. He then decided to just use a color film and whatever camera he can find and to just take snapshots and follow his passion. Beautiful Residence Fit for a Poet – Molimer House

This exclusive design of Molimer House was finished by the architect Alberto Campo Baeza for a poet. The house that is mostly finished in white was built in Avda, Ilustracion, Zaragoza, Spain in the year 2008.

The architect chose to build a box-like house which is open to the sky. This beautiful house presents three floors, the highest for dreaming, the garden level for living and the deepest level for sleeping. As a house that was specially designed for a poet, the architect imagined the home as a place where the poet can be inspired to write and enjoy reading books. What’s more the highest level was designed rightly as a workplace with transparent glass for natural lighting from the north.

The garden is enclosed by concrete walls, an interior that ventures into the outdoor, blurring the line between the two. Light from the north pours through the glazed walls in the interior, reflecting from the white concrete floors and balancing on the “galeria white” walls. The color palette chosen gives this gorgeous house the feeling of a bright, airy, pure place.

The Molimer House is a place for dreaming, living and dying, the house of the poet. It truly is a wonderful place to create, to love and to feel.

Dornbracht, which makes fittings and accessories for the bathroom and kitchen, has launched its Water Zones. Its program represents a new concept for domestic kitchens, spatially separating “different water”, as it is in commercial kitchens. In addition to the hot water-only version, the new addition will also be available in a hot and cold water combination tap, its functionality resuming convenience.

The design of the new water dispenser was developed on the basis of three series with different styles. The cylindrical shapes of the body of the fitting exhibit the aesthetic of another series. An inside look at Martin Carvajal’s home and lifestyle

Martin Carvajal is a young brand manager with an apartment in New York. /he was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia but moved to Bogotá whenhew as 16. At 23 years old he went to study in Boston. He always had a passion for New York and wanted to some day visit and live there. His dream came true. He now has a lovely apartment Williamsburg. Moving there was an easy decision. He really likes New York, even better than Boston. He misses his family, friends and the weather in Colombia but this is reason to regret anything.

He got involved in the fashion industry through a friend of his girlfriend. At that time he didn't consider that to be a permanent job. He kept waiting to get a real job but that never happened. Fashion became, little by little, an important part of his life. He changed jobs at one point but still in the same domain. Even though he kept telling himself he has to change the field, the experience he had in the fashion industry was stronger and kept pulling him back. This was both annoying and inspiring.

He became a production manager even though he never worked in that particular field. He was lucky to have friends who helped him pull it off. He also found a mentor and at one point he became really comfortable with his new job. In this field he gets to be creative and to come up with new ideas and this is one of the most important aspects that make him like the job.

Martin left the company after four year. It had started to be a repetitive job and he went for something a little more challenging. He then started a new company with one of his friends. They make accessories, mostly bats and baseball caps, backpacks and similar items. Martin finally found the perfect place and the job that best suits him. New York is still his passion and he enjoying living in his small but inspiring apartment.

These days I took care of my apartment flowers. On winter they suffer a little bit from cold or and the reduced amount of light. It is the season when they rest a little bit, they are not so greenish and full of life. Some of them were not so well, some of them turned yellow or they even dried. I tried to clean them, poured them some water, I even changed their place or earth so now they look much better. Perhaps on spring they will come back to their initial state and will begin a new life.

In Guadalajara, Mexico there is a contemporary house called Lucke Orozco House. It is designed by Hernandez Silva Architects and its main attraction is vegetation.Lucke Orozco House is a two leveled house which offers continuing spacious areas and a peaceful atmosphere generated by the trees and plants that appear all over the place. The use of spotlights contributes to a soft light which will create some lovely private and intimate spaces. For the second level there was designed a special lattice which will allow the natural light to invade the interior and create a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Concrete and wood are the main materials although there are used glass and ceramic too. Everything is modern, the number of pieces of furniture is reduced to minimum so that you may enjoy a lot of space here. The nuances of grey or natural wood complete the intimate and peaceful atmosphere where you may enjoy some incredible views from the wonderful terraces of Lucke Orozco House.{found on contemporist}.

Relaxation Space for Employees at Netlife Research

This next office space is all about reflection and creativity. Eriksen Skajaa Architects have taken on a great project for the user-experience consultancy firm Netlife Research. The Norwegian architects designed some birch veneer-clad rooms that are punctures on every side by arched doorways, windows and recesses.

Inspired by a monastery garden, the architects designed a brick and wood building partition in the center of a wide open space that features niches for plants and privacy, and windows for air circulation. One of the niches outside contains a bench to sit and read or relax. Everything about it exudes calm and tranquility, a place that sometimes is extremely needed at an office.

The Monastery is a great place that stands out due to its simple design, intriguing position and its use. It presents a soft, neutral color palette that gives it the feeling of a bright, airy space. More and more companies should take this as an example and try to fit a place for relaxation in their designs, because the work of their employees will grow and they will have better results.

Employees at web consultancy Netlife Research in Oslo can take a moment for contemplation inside one of the three wooden rooms dedicated to silence.

The California collection just got bigger. J. Rusten Furniture Studio announced the arrival of a new series of California desks and tables. With a very clear and suggestive name, these pieces impress with their design and quality. The tables and desks feature similar designs. Each of them has been cut into the iconic shape of California, from where they also get their name.The pieces from this series are crafted from native and salvaged charo walnut. The top of the tables and desks is shapes like the state of California and the bases are made of steel. The California series is available in three different sizes. There's a large size, a medium one and a small version.

The large size only includes a desk. The medium size is available for both desks and coffee table and the small version is only for coffee tables. The overall dimensions of the large desk are 86″ long, 29.5″ tall. The medium version measures 72″ long, 29.5″ tall. The medium coffee table is 72″ long, 16″ tall and the small version measures only 56″ long, 16″ tall. The prices also vary according to the dimensions and the type of furniture. You can buy these pieces for prices between $1650 and $2950.

The California series offers furniture suitable for offices but also for homes. The coffee tables for example would look lovely in a living room. They can also be used in offices or public areas. The all desk's and table's tops are finished with a low-toxic tung-oil and the steel legs are powder coated. Their designs are simple but very suggestive.

Nowadays there aren't many houses built of stone. Architects tend to choose more versatile materials that are also easier to use. This makes stone houses even rarer and thus more interesting and unique. This is the Wyeth and King Stone House. It's a very impressive residence that sits on a 5.5 acre site.The house sits on a tree lined village street behind a high hedge. It was originally designed by the Architectural firm Wyeth and King from where it also gets its name.This beautiful house was built in the late 1930s for one of East Hamptons most prominent residents, Robert Lion Gardiner. Now the residence is on the market and it can be purchased for $29,000,000. It would make a wonderful getaway and a great family home.

The residence has been carefully refitted and restored in a five-year period. The changed made didn't interfere with the residence's original design and architecture. The architectural details and most of the features have been preserved while also updating the interior and restoring the exterior.This impressive residence features over 10,000 square feet of living space and it includes 10 spacious bedrooms and 8 full and one half bathrooms.

Friendly rocking chair for kids got a makeover

Everyone knows what a rocking chair is. We usually associate it with the grandma image. This is how we usually see it on TV or in cartoon series. I still remember Muriel and how she loved to sit in her rocking chair and watch TV. But rocking chairs aren't only for old people. Kids can enjoy them too. Here's a very cute rocker that got a beautiful makeover and that has the perfect size for kids.

The rocker has a very chic look but that's after the makeover. Before that it used to look very sad. It was an old piece of furniture with a nice overall look but in bad need of a makeover. The chair got a fresh new look and it's almost unrecognizable now. The frame was painted white and this changed everything. The glossy white paint makes it look ore modern and fresh. The fabric was also a very important element. It's chic and modern and it completely changes everything.

Of course, in order to make the chair look like this, everything had to come out. The frame had to be removed and then painted. After the paint was dry it was time to add some new upholstery. After figuring out the dimensions, a modern and chic piece of fabric was chosen and several pieces were cut out and stapled to the frame.

The results were inspiring and very beautiful. It's a project that you can adapt and recreate by yourself. You don't even need a lot of materials. The fabric is the most important. In this case, because the fabric was not enough, two smaller pieces had to be stitched together and form the back. A pink ribbon was sued to glue them together and it looks like it's been intentionally placed there. The rocking chair now looks better than ever.{found on curbly}.

Extension to an Edwardian semi-detached house with a modern back yard

London based architect Peter Thomas de Cruz has designed a beautiful extension to a superb Edwardian semi-detached house. Looking from the street there's nothing different from the houses near it, because the whole "action" takes place at the back of the building and back yard. It is a daring project and an architectural challenge to attach a modern extension to an already incredible beautiful classic building. The idea probably came as a desire to extend the modern interior in the back yard, and if indeed this was the idea the space created , at least the outside area looks more like fancy lobby on a hotel than an outside garden. The materials used are by definition modern, both by style and manufacturing process.

Also modern furniture can be found inside the traditional living area but also in the newly created space. As challenging as it was the result is amazing. This household is basically a true architectural wonder, almost like a piece of artwork carefully covered in a protective classic shell.

The Edwardian building structure and façade adds to the wonderful modern interior a certain noble feel, placing the building among a few other construction that represent the true heritage of London's greatest times. This exquisite design is even more highlighted thanks to the incredible quality, of the materials and execution. Everything is spotless and shiny, the owners managing to create the perfect combination of comfort and style, with a tremendous family air and sense of balance.

Single house in the middle of the nature

Here we have a different example of house situated in the middle of the nature. We usually see wooden constructions with plenty of natural materials, because nowadays people seem to choose ecological buildings to return at our origins, when human beings lived in forests and built their shelters with natural materials, stone and wood. Here, architect Josep Ferrando Bramona, and collaborators Jordi Queralt and Marc Nadal built in Girona, Spain a house on a 400 square meters area, a place surrounded by nature, but made of modern building materials like concrete, glass and basalt.

The construction does not respect the traditional patterns of living spaces which have a roof on the top of the floors, it has a different shape, with more open spaces positioned in opposite directions. The house is situated on a crest, so the owner enjoys a beautiful landscape made of tree crowns and green spaces. On one side and another, the treetops are at the level of the veranda; the entwined branches, when are admired from the sitting area, act as a filter through which to contemplate the outdoors.

The basalt-covered roof is the surprise element of this construction, because it is designed to have access to the top of the house only by walking on it. The entire house focuses more on the exterior, because the owners want to spend more time outside, where they can sit on the roof and admire the horizon, or relax on the sophisticate swimming pool. The Colorful PEEP office storage units

Storage is very important in any space, not only at home. It's something to take into consideration when designing a home, an office, a public space and basically anything else. The offices tend to be the most difficult. Everything in there has to be functionally designed and adapted and the space needs to be airy and uncluttered. The PEEP storage units are perfect for that.The PEEP storage units were designed by Stockholm-based Note Design Studio.

This office collection features colorful and practical storage units specifically designed for both home office and other types of work areas. The main idea behind this collection was to create office products that allow light to pass through. Usually in the office there's not a lot of light. They usually have a window that basically needs to light up the whole area. Most offices don't even have that.The solution for that problem was PEEP. The design is based on a sort of transparent "collar" made of perforated metal that would then be fixated with boxes or shelves. The boxes would have different shapes and sizes and the whole thing would resemble a Tetris game.

The storage units also have colorful designs in order to make the offices a more friendly environment. It took the designers quite some time to decide on a final look.The aluminum collars they were planning to use were very light but also very wobbly. They had to find a way to make the cabinets sturdy. Several different leg positions were tried until the final design was created. It wasn't easy but the team managed to find the perfect solution.

Minimalist and serene blogger apartment in Amsterdam

This is a 85 square meter small ground floor apartment located in Amsterdam. The apartment belongs to Desiree who is a passionate decorator. She managed to turn this cold apartment into a very relaxing place. The apartment is rather small but it also has a beautiful little garden next to the living room. Unique seaside restaurant in a cave in Southern Italy

There are a lot of unusual locations when it comes to restaurants. Most of them prefer to sit above the ground but there are also some exceptions. There are restaurant sitting on high cliffs, on the sand, underwater, and this one in a cave. This is Hotel Ristorante Grotta Palazzese. It can be found in the town of Polignano a Mare in southern Italy. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience and this is mostly due to the unusual location.

The restaurant sits inside a cave. It has been created inside a vaulted limestone cave overlooking the sea. The location is unique and very beautiful. Of course, because of the unconventional location, the restaurant is only opened during the summer months. The restaurant is also of the Grotta Palazzese hotel complex that's located above.

The restaurant offers a unique dining experience. The location is definitely unusual and something to remember. It's also very nice to just sit there, with the wind gently touching your face, enjoying delicious food while also admiring the sea and the water hitting the shore while the sun is not allowed to bother you. Of course, it would be ideal to be able to go in the hotel after that and relax while admiring the sea. This restaurant is a perfect way of alluring costumers. The JWT Bogotá Headquarters Interior Design

This is the JWT Bogotá Headquarters, a spacious and functionally structured space. It was a project by AEI Arquitectura e Interiores and it's located in Bogotá, Colombia. The whole structure covers an area of 2,300 square meters. The construction was completed in October 2011. JWT stands for J. Walter Thompson.The headquarters was designed as a functionally structured space, a structure that has been adapted to the need of the users and that would increase the efficiency and work performance. The whole area needed to be efficient and the idea was to create a large space divided into smaller area that could be easily reached by everyone.

The headquarters was basically designed as a small city. It has a center, a plaza, a gathering area and two traffic lines that resemble two main streets. The whole project was functionally implemented and the architects kept in mind the fact that this space needs to adapt to the customer needs. It had to be a friendly environment. The working areas are nicely divided and functionally distributed all over the place.

There are also areas such as the copying areas, the coffee areas and the formal meeting rooms.The offices were designed as personalized space. They are simple and yet sophisticated. The designers also decided to add a national touch to the offices and they took representative elements and included them in the design. It's like a mini-Colombia in there.

The stackable Clessidra wooden stool

Stools are ones of my favorite pieces of furniture. They are extraordinarily versatile and they can be used in situations when any other piece of furniture would be useless. Today we found a very simple but very special design that we would like to share with you. It’s called Clessidra because of its shape that resembles an hourglass. The stool was designed by Mario Botta for Riva 1920.The Clessidra stools are unique because of their shape and technique that was used to create them. Each stool is crafted from a single block of fragrant cedar-wood.

Little by little it takes the shape of an hourglass-like figure. The block is sculpted using a unique procedure. It’s worked till it takes the original form that you see in the pictures. It looks almost like two hemispheres are balanced on each other. It’s such a minimalist and yet intriguing design.

The Clessidra stools also have another unique features that distinguishes them from other designs. The stools can also be stacked one on top of the other. This way yo get an original sculpture and a very interesting piece of furniture. It’s a decoration when stacked and functional stools when taken apart. The stools can be stacked on request. A metal pin can be inserted into the center of the seat and this allows the user to place the stools one top of the others. It’s interesting and it’s also a great and innovative storage solution.

I drink a cup of coffee every morning and when I do that I like reading some magazines. OK, I’d rather do that online, but the humming and light of my computer wakes everybody up, so I just read paper magazines while doing that. So I sit in my living room next to the coffee table and hoping to find the magazines somewhere close, so that I don’t have to move again. This is how i got the idea of getting an incredible and useful piece of furniture – this Circle 3 Magazine Table. It is a very smart combination of coffee table and magazine rack, so it is basically a table with a magazine rack.

The table is designed by Mark Zuckerman and Monty Lawton from In House furniture and looks amazing. It is made of walnut, but has a maple core, which makes it look great. I guess the name of the table comes from the three circles that are the table base, two of which are actually the magazine stands. The table is graceful and nice, elegant and still modern, even if it was first made in 1994. The item is now available in maple for $695 and in walnut for $795.

From a store to a minimalist residence

This minimalist and intriguing residence is located in Rua das folhas soltas, Colares – Sintra. It was a project by Frederico Valsassina Arquitecto. The project was designed in 2005 and the residence was completed in 2006. The house sits on a 150 square meter construction area. The project included the transformation of an already existing space as well as some additional changes. The architects had the mission to transform a space that once served as storage and to turn it into a guest house. The pre-existing structure had a very simple design.

It was a minimalist structure with a sloping roof. In order to maintain the same look, the architects designed the extensions of the house following the same design. The current residence now includes a series of two and a half such structures.

Besides the design that had to be preserved, the architects were also concerned with the indoor-outdoor connection. The inhabitants needed privacy but they also wanted to be able to enjoy the outdoor areas. As a result, a dialogue was created between the two zones. The two almost identical structures serve as a guest house and respectively main house. The materials were the same and this was important because the structures needed to have a uniform look. Because the house is surrounded by pine trees, the architects decided to add an artistic touch and they played with the varied shades produced by the trees and that are reflected on the houses.{found on archdaily and pics by João Carmo Simões}.

It's so difficult to describe such a marvelous house only in a few lines, because it is very complex and every room is special in its own way. Modern upholstered bench made from a table

We've noticed the weather has become more friendly lately so we decided to show you something a little more appropriate. Since spring is just around the corner, it's time to start thinking of all the fun things you can do outdoors. If you have some outdoor space available, we have a nice project that you'll love. We're going to show how to turn a simple table into a cozy and modern bench. For this project you'll need an old coffee table with straight sides, some measuring tape, ½'' plywood, ¼'' double strength glass, sandpaper, a 2'' piece of foam, one yard of Dacron, spray adhesive, a yard of fabric, a staple gun, spray paint three 1 ½'' wood screws and a drill. Now let's see what can you do with all those materials. First you need to decide on the dimensions for the seat and the table. Then cut the wood and glass so that they fit those dimensions. Next attach the pre-cut foam to the wood using spray adhesive.

You'll also need to cut a piece of Dacron to place on top of the foam after applying spray adhesive. Then cut the fabric and make sure it fits around the Dacron covered bench top. You'll need some extra 2-3'' for stapling. Then upholster the fabric on the wood and foam insert. Use the sandpaper to smooth off the edges and then cut the glass, clean it and let it dry. Spray one side of the glass with spray paint, let it dry and repeat. Do that until it becomes opaque.

After you screw the cushion of the bench in place using a drill, spray some glue across the remaining 1/3 of the table top and place the glass on the wood. Make sure the painted side in facing down. Let everything dry over night and then it's done. You can use any type of fabric in any color you like and you can even repaint the table top to match.{found on modhomeec}.

2012 Fina Modern Radiator

I can finally say wow when I'm seeing this incredible radiator, I even had problems locating it, because it doesn't look anything like other heaters you may have seen. For those of you who need heating during winter time heaters are very often objects that don't necessarily fit into our décor but we can't get rid of them either. Who else would think to revolutionize these objects if not the Nordics who need them more that every one, because they have long winters with freezing temperatures. Thereby they thought that it's time to integrate those heater into their home design, and for doing this they needed a new look for an object that was designed only with the functional purpose in mind.

The result is called "Fina" and it was presented on Interclima + Elec 2012 . Zehnder designed a radiator towel an incredible minimalist look. It is actually a panel with a smooth surface that diffuses a radiant heat. Thanks to its system of adaptable connections this can fit anywhere. Of course you will not see these fixings mechanism and connections because there were dissimilated by side masks to preserve its minimal aspect.

Like most of radiators, if not every single one of them this item was conceived for central heating installation with warm water. I am proud to mention that this wonderful radiator comes in a great variety of colors to perfectly match your interior and of course in a different finishing: matte or shiny.

I like sitting comfortably when I watch TV or read an interesting book. That means that I want to sit in an armchair but I want it to be soft and comfy and to offer me the right position for reading and for staying still for hours without getting numb. I also like being able to move my seating where I want it around the house, where the natural light is better or where it is quieter. So I guess this Tuva Faux Fur Bean Bag – Charcoal is the best thing for me. First of all it is called a bean bag for a reason : it looks just like an old bean bag used by kids to sit on when going to the market in their cart.

Then it is pretty soft and makes you warm, just like when hugging a teddy bear. I guess my comparison was caused by the fact that this comfortable seating is covered with a faux fur looking like a giant grizzly bear. But this one is only made of acrylic and is filled with lightweight polystyrene foam beads, which allows you to move it from one place to another without damaging it a bit. We all know what furniture is and what furniture does. Since early times furniture has been playing a key role in the way we deposit and arrange things. Shelves allowed us to store more, multiplying the ground place. Now, furniture still perform the same tasks but in another context. We now see furniture as a decorative thing in our interiors, and due to its new "obligation" furniture manufacturers try to make it as appealing as possible. An innovative thing in this industry is represented by the possibility of arranging different parts in different positions to suit the best way possible your needs.

Designed by Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Stahlbom this family of low tables and open storage cabinets feature the exact same thing I was just mentioning. The supporting bases appear as weighty volumes, similar to rocks on which movable wooden cabinets combine Swedish craft and tradition.

The so called "trotters" storage units offer two different types of shelving with a wide range of combination one with another, allowing you to develop multiple display options. I would have to mention that the entire collection focuses on furniture's feet, a very important constructive element that is very often forgotten. Those elements, in this collection combine marble legs with glass table tops, wooden legs with wooden tops, or a very elegant combination of porcelain legs, orange silicone pads and thick glass.

Jackie Astier’s unique family home

Jackie Astier is an editor and stylist with a very unique spirit. She's a theatrical person and this can also be seen wherever she goes. However, we were curious to see how her home looks like. She lives on the Upper East Side with her husband Jean-François and their two daughters. The apartment is filled with unique pieces of furniture. You might think that the fact that she lives with some of the world's finest furniture boutiques right outside her door must count for something but you would be wrong.Jackie Astier prefers to buy her furniture on eBay. She developed a real talent for hunting furniture on the internet and not only. She has a lot of ingenious and original ideas.

One of them was to let her daughters exercise their talent as graffiti artists. It was after she spotted some patent-leather panels on a sidewalk on Madison Avenue. She took them home and gave her daughters permanent markers so that they could draw on the panels.

She then displayed their work on the hallway so that everyone can admire it while relaxing in the living room. But the apartment has 10 rooms so there are a lot more interesting things to see inside. The furniture seems to be the star. Jackie Astier carefully chose each piece and she knows exactly where it comes from. Most of the furniture was moved from one place to another when the family changed apartments. They managed to trade their 6-room apartment for this 10-room piece located in the same building. They were able to pack, move and unpack in the same day.

They took most of their furniture with them but they also managed to trade of the pieces for something that Jackie found more interesting. As a result, the apartment is indeed original. It's a place that this family can truly call home.{found on elledecor}.

Black Vipp kitchen modules

The Eadie Armchair by Donna Wilson

With so many modern and contemporary designs nowadays it's hard to even remember how things used to be a few years ago. In terms of furniture, everything was different. The sofas weren't so simple and neither so comfortable and the chairs were space-consuming. However, they had a unique look that is still very attractive. The Eadie armchair is a great reminder of that.The armchair was designed by Donna Wilson and it has a classical look, a traditional design like the ones we used to see a while ago or in our grandparent's homes.

The chair was designed in 2009 and it's made of a combination of beech wood, plywood and natural fibers. Its overall dimensions are 30″ L x 35.5″ D x 34.25″ and the seat height is 17.75''. The chair and its eye-catching design were launched during London Design Festival 2009 at Liberty's 'Britain Can Still make it' exhibition organized to celebrate British furniture.

The Eadie armchair is handcrafted from solid beech and has a plywood frame. Sustainable materials have used as much as possible in this design. Instead of petrochemicals such as foam, a mix of sustainable materials that includes natural fibers, horse hair and wood has been used for the upholstery. The chair also features a large full leather upholstered cushion for extra comfort. The cushion sits within the rounded frame and provides back support. The back of the frame is slightly arched and thus ensures a comfortable design and shape. The Eadie armchair can be bought for the price of $2,900.00. The apbcOffices in Malaysia with a green wall inside

Located in The Pavilion Tower, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this project is impressive on several levels. The apbsOffices, as it has been named, this space attempts to redefine and restructure the conventional office space. Designed by Asylum architects along with creative director Chris Lee, design director Cara Ang and interior designer Dymitr Malcew, the offices have been envisaged as a calm and tranquil space.The project covers a total area of 10,473 square feet and was completed in 2011. It's a space inspired by nature and a surprising addition to the city's main shopping, entertainment and tourism district. The office occupies the 16th floor of The Pavilion Tower.

The main idea behind this project was to create a calm and tranquil environment using natural materials that would be comforting but also stimulating. The offices were opened in October 2011. They feature strong interior designs including lots of elements inspired by nature. Every little space and very item tells a story and random has been randomly chosen. The atmosphere is immediately soothing and relaxing. The walls are covered with timber strips and simulate trees.

Then, as you enter, you reach the reception desk that has been carved out of natural stone. There are lots of flowers throughout the offices and there are also butterfly-themed rooms. It's a he nature-inspired space that offers a different perspective on the concept of office. The service offices are named after different breeds of birds and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, soothing and relaxing. Flexible office furniture concept

Christian Wilke & Ida Mared are two Swedish architects that have a different vision about furniture. This collection is entitle "OFC SPS", spelling out office surprise. These furniture pieces were design to be less stationary and more versatile. The idea bounces around picnic where furniture pieces can perform temporary tasks in different configuration. This collection is designed for spontaneous meetings, of freelance companies where the furnishings have to be transportable.

Of course, if we want these items can do a great job in a more standard working place setting. The table features two big wheels and handles to be easily transported from place to place. It can be used as a singularly object or in clusters, also electricity plugs for the lamp and computers were mounted in the hatch. There are so many different kinds of furniture in the world, but we use just a few in our homes. Wasps are some small noisy beings that work day long in order to produce the sweetest thing: honey. I guess everybody loves this products and I am sure that not too many of you love the appearance of a wasp. If they are disturbed they can become really aggressive and a confrontation with them is not so nice. So it is better to leave them alone, do their ob and enjoy their sweet product.

In Italian "vespa" means "wasp" and it was used by Enrico Piaggio for his scooters when they have appeared in 1942 for the first time. Their retro appearance and noisy engines were the perfect features that could be associated with the name of "vespa". At that time the Vespa scooters were very fashionable and loved by everybody but in time they turned to be unhealthy for the environment and they were replaced by some other models.

In order to save one of these scooters from its disappearance it was turned into a functional piece of furniture. The traditional features were kept by converting the back half into a functional work station, complete with adjustable lap top stand. Now you can admire this beautiful piece and imagine that you are riding a real Vespa scooter while you work on your laptop.

This beautiful apartment is located in Madrid and it recently got a complete makeover. At the same time, it also got s fresh white interior. The visual impact is very strong. Also, the fact that all the walls, ceilings and overall design of the apartment is white makes this place function as a blank canvas. This way everything placed in there such as furniture or accessories will instantly become a focal point of attention.The apartment has a large living room that seems even bigger with all the white in there. The living room has a colorful sofa with dusty purple upholstery that creates a sophisticated atmosphere. It has beautiful cushions and the entire room has colorful accessories throughout. The rest of the apartment has similar decors.

When the current owners bought this place it was in poor condition. However, they were able to see the potential and all the possibilities this apartment offered. It was a 70 square meter apartment with inviting rooms. The renovation was drastic and the apartment got a completely new look. The project was commissioned by Mariano Ibanez and the interior was designed by Critina Ros de la Vega.

Even though white is obviously the dominant color on the apartment, it's not it that strikes the eye. It's all the other colorful details that are eye-catching. The renovation started with the wooden beams in the roof. These were painted and thus the space became higher. The walls and the floors were then painted white as well. Privacy pop bed tent special designed for students

Finally am extremely useful item for students everywhere. Although this might not be ideal as living in your own space, this "privacy pop" tent will definitely be appreciated by people who share rooms, ideal for a dorm room. Those who have lived in such places know what I'm talking about when I say that privacy is out of the question. This very cool accessory has zip windows on each side of the tent for ventilation and light, when the situation calls it.

The structure is collapsible and it was designed to fit and twin or twin XL bed. If you've seen movies about the collage life and how living in a dorm room looks like you should know that in real life is actually pretty close to what you've seen or heard about. If you're sleeping and your room mate comes in the middle of the night drunk, lighting the room up like a Christmas tree, you won't be disturbed.

I am a student myself and my current "recipe" for a good nigh sleep consists of using a sleeping mask and ear plugs. It works pretty well, but it has a major disadvantage, I can't see or hear anything by my roommates do, and if you're bringing a girl over it can be quite uncomfortable to be yourself. I will probably order this in the next minutes, because it is indeed helpful offering me full privacy in the middle of the room.

Stylish mid-century kitchen makeover

In most mid-century homes the kitchen is isolated from the rest of the house. It's only considered to be the place for preparing meals and cooking. It's not the social area that we consider it to be these days. That's why it's difficult to even try to bring them up to date. This is one of those kitchens and it recently got a beautiful makeover. Even though it's not as open and accessible as modern kitchens, it got a lovely new look.The house is located in Portland, Oregon. It used to have an isolated kitchen but after the makeover that space was opened up to the rest of the house. It's now a cozy and inviting area.

The makeover was a project by Vanillawood. After opening this space up the kitchen, the living and the dining area are now a large common area. The kitchen got a completely new look. It used to be small and cramped and now it's larger, more airy and more spacious, not to mention more elegant.

The kitchen features a large window that provides natural light while also offering amazing views of the Pacific Northwest landscape. It has a simple design with a Corain sink and glass doors offer access to the patio. The floors are covered with oak wood and part of the walls has been entirely covered with wood cabinets. The kitchen also includes an island with practical countertops and eleven drawers that provide plenty of storage space. The cabinets have stainless steel hardware and the walls have been covered with wallpaper. Abandoned building that got a face lift from Nikita Nomerz

When it comes to abandoned buildings, there aren't many options. You can either demolish them and erase them completely from the surface of the earth making room for something new or you can try to integrate them into the landscape by giving them a "face lift". Russian artist Nikita Nomerz has found a way to literally interpret this affirmation.The artist is known for his eye-catching creations. His specialty is to transformed abandoned structures into giant portraits.

He uses details already present on the site to determine the image that he's going to give to the building or structure. The artist travels to cities across his native country in search for places that he can transform. He gives makeovers to abandoned building or any other type of structure. The Russian artist is a very creative spirit that decided to be different. He refuses to use paper or even walls for his creations. Instead he chose something a little more unconventional.

Instead of painting over a wall and creating something clean and new, the artist likes to be adventurous and he chooses all sorts of structures such as abandoned homes, old storage facilities and all sorts of industrial structures. He uses the defects from each space and uses them in his portraits. The shape and the imperfections of the surface he chooses to use as canvas are the one that determine the portrait itself. It's unusual but intriguing and very clever.

Beautiful residence surrounded by nature in The Netherlands

This lovely residence is located in Heesch, The Netherlands. It sits quietly on a beautiful lot surrounded by trees, on the edge of a forest. The house was a project by Hilberink Bosch Architects and it was completed in 2009. The residence covers a total surface of 300 square meters. It has been designed as two separate volumes.The residence is L-shaped and consists of two balanced volumes that form together a sculpture that resembles a fallen tree on a pile of earth. The image is very beautiful especially considering the location. The L-shaped base includes the public areas of the house. The outside walls seem to protect this area making it seem mysterious and secretive. The exterior walls are made of long, dark bricks.

Even though the exterior of the residence is dark and mysterious, the interior is open and light. The different areas of the house are interconnected. For example, the living area is connected to the terrace, the garden and the forest. The entire house is filled with natural light that penetrates through the windows.

The basement of the residence houses a timber volume with the private areas of the house such as the bedrooms and the bathrooms. This is the volume that resembles a fallen tree. On one side this volume is connected to a glass structure featuring sturdy steel columns. The overall design of the house is modern and very interesting. I wonder if it's even possible not to love a house like this. Outside, the beautiful house is surrounded by an amazing garden where you would love to stay and look at the fountains or enjoy the beautiful view over the surrounding nature. Inside, from the entrance, you can remark the elegant style with tall ceilings, marble floors and vintage decorations, including a sophisticate staircase with a white, iron railing which gives the house a welcoming atmosphere.

The whole mansion is decorated in two different styles.A part of the house is modern, with warm colors on the walls, pale carpets, marble and elegant, wooden furniture. For example, we can see a room with an interesting mural painting, an exquisite choice for the owners, because it transforms the place in a tasteful location where you will never get bored. The other part of the house is decorated only in wood. One living room is decorated in wooden ceiling, wooden floors, wooden walls and also with wooden interior balconies from the second floor. In the middle of the room sits an elegant sofa and a sophisticate, vintage piano, a wonderful choice for this kind of room. I just fell in love with the kitchen.

Everything in it is sophisticate, but also useful . The Heathcliff Cushion

I am sure most of you have read the classic novel “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte and I am also sure that all the young girls and women have felt a strange attraction for the rough and manly Heathcliff. Generations and generations of young readers have fallen in love with the main character of this novel and the power of description of the writer proves admirable as you can almost “see” him. Well, apparently this character was the source of inspiration for painters and many other artists, like Sam Taylor-Wood who succeeded to recreate the atmosphere of the book in this beautifully designed Heathcliff Cushion.

This cushion is handmade and the designer used wool aubusson for making its front part, while the back is made of red velvet. The cushion cover is a tapestry that shows the picture of a wild and deserted corner of nature, just like the nature of Heathcliff. And, what’s even more beautiful and inspiring, the cushion was made especially for being sold and the money used for charity. It support a charity project called Maggie’s that helps cancer affected people. The cushion costs about £495, but it cannot be purchased online. The first thing we do when we decorate or redecorate our home is to think of a new color for the walls. We always feel the need to change the ambiance and the color of the walls is the easiest way. Bright and airy studio apartment in Linnéstaden with balcony

This is a tiny apartment located on Third avenue 32 C in Linnéstaden. It's situated in a building that dates from 1905. The apartment is very small and measures 31 square maters. It only has one room. It sits on the third floor in a four-storey building. Despite its size, the apartment is very bright and airy. The interior design is well organized and the colors have been nicely chosen.The apartment is currently on the market for 1.3 million SEK. It's small but cozy and it would make a nice home for a student for example. It's a lovely studio apartment and it also has a balcony. Inside, it still features some of the original elements such as molding or the ceiling rose and stucco.

It's a rather traditional apartment. The location is very convenient. The apartment is close to restaurants, cafes and shops. It also offers privacy. The windows and the balcony are overlooking an enclosed courtyard.

The building in which the apartment is located was originally built in 1905 by architect J.A. Anderson. Over the years it has been renovated but the architects have tried to preserve the original feel while also modernizing the interiors. This beautiful residence is located in Clearview, Ontario, Canada. It was designed for a local artist and it features a large series of sustainable technologies including a geothermal lake look and a green house. This, along with the residence's contemporary and very sleek design makes this project unique and unusual, compared to the others in the same area. The residence was a project by Altius Architecture. The main idea was to create a simple and contemporary house that would offer views towards the nearby pond and the adjacent woodland. Because the client wanted to keep everything on one level, the architects had to find a way to make this homes integrate naturally into the landscape. They decided to arrange each space in a way that would allow them to take advantage of the site while also fulfilling the client's requirement for beautiful views.

The residence has to be as user-friendly and functional as possible. That's one of the reasons why the client didn't want to it have more than one level. The architects decided to work with a palette of materials that were a reflection of the surrounding landscape and thus that would make the house integrate seamlessly into the area. Moreover, they incorporated into the design a series of sustainable features including program and spatial optimization, site specific views, passive solar heating, natural ventilation and passive cooling, natural daylight, material optimization, modular design.

Renewable materials and finishes, advanced geothermal systems, radiant heating, low energy lighting and water conserving appliances and fixtures. Overall, this home has it all. It's beautiful, environmental-friendly and functional at the same time.

Upcycled furniture and lamps made from decommissioned missiles and ammo

I really didn't expect to see this. It is a very original idea to make pieces of furniture from some decommissioned missiles or to use ammo to make jewelry. Given the fact that my father worked in the army, I suppose that passion for this kind of objects was inherited from him, so I kind of like these decorative objects. Designed by ex-military brat Jake Wright, the furniture and houseware are available at his Etsy store, where each piece is full of history repurposed into functional furniture.

Usually, war ammunition is kept in the dark or forgotten in military bases, but Jake Wright wanted to give it some utility, and in the same time to use it in a fashionable way. He scours military surplus and scrap metal yards for the decommissioned historic military weapons, than each piece is repurposed and taken out of its war torn past. One of the masterpieces from his store is a fashionable table lamp, which combines an elegant, soft textile material, with the Megaton bomb left over from the Korean War.

Another interesting piece of furniture is a modern table which uses a large missile as centerpiece support, obtaining an interesting decoration for an unusual living room, like these cluster bomblets from the Vietnam War which are made into small desk lamps. Wright has also ventured in the jewelry world, by creating a line of baby bomblet pendants, fit for both sexes. Completed in 2004 by design studio Foster and Partners, Jameson House is a brand new 35-storey mixed-use tower in central Vancouver, Canada and includes the first residential development to be completed by the practice in North America. The beautiful building has the latest equipment both in technical and architectural design areas, so we can remark an innovative mechanized valet parking system, which reduces the number of parking levels.The lower level, of the building has several offices and shops, while the upper, private level is composed of exclusive apartments, where the owners can enjoy seeing the beautiful horizon from the big windows.
